I had the honor of presenting awards to two outstanding students at the August Board meeting. Davis Borucki was awarded a National Merit Scholarship to Boston College for his perfect score of 2400 on the S.A.T. and Jayme Keefer was recognized for her second place award in Business Communications at the National Future Business Leaders of America Conference.
Richland Northeast is celebrating a New Year with a new look, new programs, and a new attitude. I am excited to be a part of the decision made by the board to continue renovations to the districts oldest standing high school to include a new look for the parking lot, major renovations to the sports facilities, and an overhaul of the media center. The new International Baccalaureate program also brings an International aspect to the school that fits right in with the International Corridor (Decker Boulevard) that sits adjacent to the RNE. Visit http://www.richland2.org/content.aspx?id=38972 to find out more details on the exciting things happening at RNE including the pep rally to celebrate the new year. Go Cavs!
I received my Level Three Boardmanship Certificate for reaching 100 points of training within two consecutive years. The training, offered by the SC School Boards Association, was instituted in 1982 to help board members develop necessary skills for being effective in their roles. They also help board members to stay current with trends, laws, and other current topics of interest.
